This license is mandatory by the state for facilities who house, store and work with radioactive materials. The radioactive materials license requires that specific policies and procedures are implemented to ensure that the applicable rules and regulations are strictly adhered to. A qualified radiation safety officer must be delegated in writing to manager and oversee the daily operations of the radiation protection program. Company management delegates authority to the RSO to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. On many occasions it is necessary to provide training and supervision of prospective RSO to ensure they meet the requisite qualification of the NRC and Agreement States.
