This training provides a basic working-level knowledge of radiation safety and the requirements for regulatory compliance with the provisions of the NC Administrative Code Regulations for Radiation Protection 10A NCAC 15.0100, .0200, .0800, .1000 and .1600. For the purpose of this training, limited scope industrial radiation protection programs that use electronic (X-ray tube based) radiation generating devices such as those described in 10A NCAC 15 .0801(a). Rule .0801(a) provides specific requirements for the use of ionizing radiation generating devices (RGDs) operating above five thousand electron volts (5 keV), but below one million electron volts (1 MeV) that are in addition to requirements in Sections .0100, .0200, .0500 (applicable rules), .1000, and .1600. Limited scope industrial radiation protection programs include the use of X-ray tube based radiation generating devices (RGDs) such as, process control devices, X-ray diffraction devices, X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) analyzers and spectrometers, electron microscopes, and other analytical devices; and cabinet X-ray systems as defined in 21 CFR 1020.40. We provide comprehensive Level I training for RSOs that meets the requirements described here. This training is generally offered in the form of a series of PowerPoint training modules that we have developed specifically for RSOs responsible for industrial radiation generating device (RGD) radiation protection programs.

Carolina Safety & Health Consultants, LLC will provide Level I Industrial RGD RSO Training for trainees, one RSO and Assistant RSOs. The proposed training will include the following PowerPoint training modules to be delivered to the designated facility via e-mail upon acceptance of this proposal and payment of program fees:

  • Fundamentals of Radiation Protection for RSOs
  • Radiation Protection Program Administration for RSOs
  • Implementation Of The Operational Radiation Safety Program

We provide the self-paced PowerPoint training modules so that your trainees can become familiar with the subject matter, and to use as a study guide for the written exam. After completion of each self-paced training module, the associated written exam will be provided via e-mail. Each trainee will have 90 days to complete the program. The trainees e-mail the completed exam answer sheet back to us for grading. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass each training module. After successfully completing all required training modules, the trainee will receive a certificate of training and a letter of training certification. The NC Radiation Protection Section accepts these as evidence of appropriate training to meet the limited scope radiation protection program requirements.
